A 17-year-old boy has been arrested after two teenage girls were raped on a canal towpath over the Easter weekend. Thames Valley Police said the victims were allegedly attacked between 9.30pm and 10.10pm on Saturday near Park Street, Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire. The teenage boy, from Leighton Buzzard, has been arrested on suspicion of two counts of rape. He has been released on bail.
Thames Valley Police are appealing for information following the alleged incident on the canal towpath, near Park Street.
Local media reported a police cordon in the area along the Grand Union Canal on Sunday morning as well as two police vans and forensics.
Police said the incident is “concerning”, informing residents there would be an increased police presence in the area while they continue their investigation.
Detective Sergeant Thomas Booth, based at Aylesbury police station said: “Our specialist officers are working to support the victims in connection with this incident.
“Members of the public may see an increased police presence while we continue to investigate and I would advise anyone with concerns to please speak to one of our officers.
“Anyone with any information relating to this incident should come forward.”
DS Booth added: “Also I would ask anyone who has CCTV, a dash-cam or a video doorbell to please check their footage and get in touch if it shows anything that could assist our enquiries.
