Blind BBC reporter 'dives on thief' and 'detains' him after moped thug steals iPhone


A blind BBC reporter has described how he “dived on a thief” and “detained” him after the man snatched his iPhone. 

Sean Dilley tweeted this morning how he stopped a thug on a bike who gabbed his phone. Mr Dilley shared an image of cuts and bruises he suffered to his leg in the encounter. 

Tagging Metropolitan Police the news correspondent said passersby assisted him in holding the suspect as police were called.

Bravely he was able to detail the the frightening encounter tweeting from the phone that he recovered.

Mr Dilley wrote: “A man on a bike just SNATCHED and stole my iPhone from my hand wrong blind person wrong day Jumped on him, safely detained and got my phone back nquite (sic) a few cuts and bruises but tweeting on the phonr (sic) he stole (and I recovered).

“I took a running jump and dive on the thief and knocked him off his bike and onto the floor I recover my phone, advised him that he was detained and called@metpoliceuk on 999 I did let him go after a few minutes, but only when others arrive to help me.”
