Biden's Coronation snub 'extraordinary insult' to UK as family's monarchy hatred exposed

Joe Biden’s decision to skip the King’s Coronation would be an “extraordinary insult to the United Kingdom” as one of the country’s closest allies, a British presenter has claimed. The US president’s snub comes after he previously revealed his Irishmum’s hatred for the monarchy.

Joe Biden is “not expected” to join other heads of state at the historic May 6 event, sources told The Telegraph.

He may instead send his wife Jill Biden or another delegation in his place while he has other commitments, the outlet reported.

It comes after an anonymous White House source told Time Magazine last month that the King’s Coronation “does not feel like an event Joe Biden will attend.”

But the decision has faced backlash from some, such as GB News’ Mark Dolan who said: “The UK, America’s closest ally – an economic, military and diplomatic partner on the world stage – will not be honoured with the presence of a man so doddery, he makes the cast of last of the summer wine look positively sprightly.”

He called the president’s likely absence from the event an “extraordinary insult to the United Kingdom”.

Dolan went on: “Every world leader, you can shake a stick at will be there, apart from the head of state of our greatest friend, with whom, we partnered, to defeat Adolf Hitler in the second world war.”

Continuing his lengthy diatribe, the news presenter said the Democrats “want to give Britain a kicking, by snubbing our impressive and dynamic new King on his big day.”

“Ultimately, this is an extraordinary diplomatic insult,” he added.

After Queen Elizabeth II died in September last year, Mr Biden described her as “a great lady” and “an incredibly decent and gracious woman”.

He also, along with many other world leaders, attended her funeral at Westminster Abbey.

But Biden has spoken openly about his Irish family’s disdain for England and the British monarchy in his memoir, claiming that his mother once refused to sleep in a bed that the Queen had once slept in.

In the book, he also recalled his aunt once saying that his dad was “not a bad man” but he was “just English”.

Before meeting the late Queen, his mother also apparently instructed him not to “bow down to her”.

British TV scriptwriter Georgia Pritchett, after speaking with Joe Biden, previously revealed that the president told him “his parents were Irish and she [his mum] had written several poems about her hatred of the English.

“He went off to find them and returned with hundreds of poems describing how God must smite the English and rain blood on our heads.”

The King’s Coronation will be held on May 6 at Westminster Abbey in London. Invitations will be sent out this month and world leaders, including Biden, will decide if they will attend the historic event.
