Biden rushes out of White House briefing early as Hamas hostage negotiations intensify

Joe Biden had to abruptly end his White House briefing tonight to continue high stakes hostage negotiations with Hamas.

Shuffling out of the room after a short speech on Bidenomics this afternoon, the US President – appearing tongue-tied – said: “We should have a ceasefire. Not a ceasefire.

“We should have those hostages released and then we can talk.”

It comes as Hamas laid out the conditions for the release of kidnapped civilians as they try to bring an end to airstrikes on Gaza.

Amid news of the announcement, two more women have also been freed.

Earlier in his speech, Biden said he has “never been more confident” about the US economy as he hailed “Bidenomics”.

Biden said he will be designating 31 technology hubs touching 32 states and Puerto Rico in order to stimulate additional job growth in the US, and to further prevent any additional offshoring of both labor and technology.

The tech hubs are the result of a process launched in May of this year to distribute a total of $500 million in grants to cities who participate in the growth.

The $500 million came from a $10 billion authorization in last year’s CHIPS and Science Act to stimulate investments in new technologies such as artificial intelligence, quantum computing and biotech.
