Bibby Stockholm migrants arrested for 'sex attack' in UK seaside town's nightlcub

Two asylum seekers living in the Bibby Stockholm barge have been arrested in connection with a seaside town “sex attack”.

Aged 24 and 27, the pair were arrested after the incident in Weymouth’s Kika Beach Bar, some four miles from where the boat is moored in Portland. It came after police received a report from a woman at the bar in the early hours of Sunday, December 10.

Officers took away hard drives containing CCTV footage according, The Sun reports, however punters in the bar say they did not see anyone being arrested at the venue. The duo have since been released from custody on bail while under investigation.

Details of the assault have not been released by police but officers have confirmed it took place within the nightclub.

A member of staff at Kika Beach Bar said: “There was an accusation made last weekend, we have been spoken to by the police who have also looked through our CCTV.”

Dorset Police confirmed an investigation into the incident had begun. A spokesman said: “We received a report at 3.10am on Sunday, December 10, that a woman was sexually assaulted in Kika Beach on the Esplanade in Weymouth.”

He added: “Officers attended and two men, aged 24 and 27, from Portland were arrested on suspicion of sexual assault. They have been released on police bail while enquiries continue. An investigation is underway by detectives and we are continuing to support the victim as our enquiries continue.”

Those living in the barge are allowed to roam freely in the area and are often taken by coach to Weymouth town centre.
