A seaside town on the southwest coast of England has become home to a number of superyachts and their billionaire owners.
The latest luxury craft to dock in the Cornwall town of Falmouth boasts a massive 258ft, making others in the marina look comparatively small.
Rocinante, a stunning £80 million superyacht owned by an American billionaire games developer arrived in Cornwall on September 14, Cornwall Live reports.
Now owned by US billionaire Gabe Newell, the yacht was built in 2008 by the Lurssen shipyard in Germany and formerly known as TV and Madsummer.
On board, you’ll find everything a billionaire would need including satellite communications, a sauna, a gym, a deck jacuzzi and it’s very own beauty salon.
Creator of the game Half-Life in 1998, Gabe Newell is president of the gaming company Valve but it’s not known if he travelled with his yacht to the Cornish coast.
The vessel joins a host of other enviable boats including Game Changer, a superyacht thought to be owned by Karen Lo, a Hong Kong-based billionaire heiress.
Originally a support vessel, allowing the owners of superyachts to carry more equipment, Game Changer later became a superyacht in its own right after adaptations and upgrades.
Coming in at an impressive 230ft, the Dutch-built vessel also boasts its own submarine and a custom dive centre. The craft, complete with a helicopter landing pad, was conducting sea trials this week as part of work at Pendennis Shipyard.
In the past five days, six cruise ships have also visited the sheltered bay of Falmouth, reports CornwallLive.
Pendennis Shipyard, which went from small boat builders into a global firm in just 30 years, is currently building Project Fox, a 35m yacht designed as a luxury exploration vessel.
The vessel will be equipped with submersibles and launching cranes.
A spokesperson said: “We previously built an explorer ice vessel called Steel, but Project Fox is much more contemporary.
“It’s an exciting project with new partners that’s helping us to enter a new pathway.”
