BBC Radio 4 bust-up erupts after Mishal Husain drops s*** bomb seven times in 60 seconds

Extraordinary airtime unfolded today as a BBC radio presenter turned the air blue repeatedly using the word s*** as she grilled the Home Secretary.

BBC Radio 4 Today programme host Mishal Husain turned the national broadcaster’s output into a swear fest as she used the foul language seven times in just 60 seconds.

Ms Husain was confronting the Home Secretary, James Cleverly over his alleged use of the term in different variations to reportedly describe everything from government policy to individuals.

The BBC presenter addressed Mr Cleverly saying things he had said had “got you into trouble” before adding “there was the time it was reported that you’d called a government policy bats***”.

Without taking a pause, Ms Husain repeated the expletive saying “there was the personal place you referred to in Parliament as a s***hole”. However, Mr Cleverly took issue with this description and said: “No, I didn’t.”

Raising her eyebrows, Ms Husain said “you didn’t use the word s***hole?”, taking the number of times she said swear word to three.

Mr Cleverly said he was referring to an individual and that the programme needed to “do better research”, however Ms Husain swore once more saying “you used the word s***, didn’t you?”

The minister replied “yes, I did, but the point is what you’ve just accused me of is very, very different” and “completely wrong”.

Seeming to passively aggressively concede Mr Cleverly’s point, Ms Husain again used the swear word as she retorted that he did use the word s*** and that “other people” heard “different things” in the context of the way he used the word.

However, Mr Cleverly doesn’t take the accusation lying down and said “you can’t keep doing that” before adding: “Why did you make that last comment?”

Ms Husain raised her hand placatingly and said “other people said they heard s***hole, you’re saying you said s***, fine”, but Mr Cleverly clarified himself in the heated exchange, adding: “I know what I said.”
