A BBC Question Time audience member who said she voted for Scottish independence admitted she was now glad the side lost in the referendum.
The woman said she had a change of heart since 2014 because Scotland is in “such a mess”.
Her intervention came during a debate on Scottish independence during this week’s show in Kelso in the Scottish Borders.
She said: “I thought we had a vote not that long ago for independence.”
Her comment prompted applause from other members of the audience.

Pressed by host Fiona Bruce on whether she was happy with the outcome, she said: “Well I actually voted SNP but I’m so glad I was in the minority.”
Asked if she wanted to expand on her remarks, she added: “Well I voted for independence but I’m glad I was in the minority.”
Bruce said: “Because you think that would have been the wrong decision?”
The woman replied: “Correct.”
Asked why she believes that now, the audience member said: “I just think the country’s in such a mess and we do need a new government absolutely.”
On whether she would vote SNP again, the audience member said she would not.
Scots voted 55 per cent to 45 per cent to stay part of the UK in the 2014 referendum.
The SNP is pushing for a fresh vote on Scottish independence but demands have so far been resisted by the UK Government.
