Tennis fans are desperate to see Rafael Nadal on court in Melbourne Park and are sweating over whether the Spaniard will be able to play after a worrying injury scare at the Brisbane International in the lead-up to the year’s first Grand Slam.

Nadal admitted afterwards: “The only problem is because the place is the same you are a little bit more scared than usual. I hope it’s not important and I hope to have the chance to be practising next week and to play Melbourne.

“Honestly, I am not 100 per cent sure of anything now.” The 22-time Grand Slam champion is looking to play his first Grand Slam since the Australian Open 12 months ago, when he crashed out in the quarter-finals.

Meanwhile today (Sunday 7th January) has served as finals day at the Brisbane International, ASB Classic, Hong Kong Open and United Cup as players look to head to Melbourne Park with some winning momentum.

Coco Gauff, Andrey Rublev, Aryna Sabalenka and Holger Rune are among those looking to lift trophies with a week to go before the Aussie Slam gets underway.
