Arsenal send scouts to monitor 'the Slovenian Erling Haaland' with Man Utd to miss out

Arsenal are reportedly monitoring the progress of RB Leipzig star Benjamin Sesko as they look to bolster their forward ranks in the January transfer window. Chelsea and Manchester United have also been linked with the striker previously but they may be forced to turn their attention to alternatives.

The Gunners have made a flying start to the season and showcased that they will, once again, challenge for the Premier League title. Mikel Arteta’s side sit in second place in the table, just two points behind league-leaders Tottenham.

Arsenal have reaped the benefits of adding depth to their squad in January, with the additions of Jurrien Timber, Declan Rice, Kai Havertz and David Raya providing cover and increased competition across the team. However, Arteta opted not to sign a forward ahead of the start of the campaign, confident that Gabriel Jesus, Eddie Nketiah and Leandro Trossard would suffice in the short-term.

The Gunners are now looking to bring in a striker in January to aid their title charge, with Brentford star Ivan Toney and Feyenoord’s Santi Gimenez among those admired. According to the Daily Star, Leipzig’s Sesko is also being considered by Arsenal following his strong start to the season.

The 20-year-old has hit the ground running in the Bundesliga with three goals in seven appearances, drawing comparisons to Manchester City star Erling Haaland as a result.

Arsenal are said to have sent scouts to watch Sesko since the start of the season and are continuing to monitor his progress closely in the hope of luring him away from Leipzig just six months after he joined the club.
