Arsenal face transfer rethink as star picks up injury during final weeks of the season

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta may need to revise his transfer strategy ahead of the summer window following an injury to one of his players. The Gunners are widely expected to be active in the summer market as they prepare for a renewed Premier League title challenge next season.

Arsenal will be looking to add more quality to their ranks after reaping the rewards of signing Declan Rice and Kai Havertz last summer. They have also been tipped to sell players with the aim of increasing their transfer budget and giving them more money to spend on new signings.

It has been speculated that Kieran Tierney could be one of the players on the move this summer, with the former Celtic man no longer in Arteta’s plans. He is spending the season on loan at Real Sociedad and it would not be a surprise to see him leave Arsenal on a permanent basis.

However, any plans to sell Tierney may need to be shelved after he picked up a new injury in training earlier this week. The left-back sustained damage to his right adductor muscle, according to El Chiringuito, which could rule him out for the rest of the campaign.

Tierney has been forced to deal with his fair share of injuries this season, with two hamstring problems leaving him on the treatment table for several games. His latest issue suggests that Real Sociedad are unlikely to make his loan move a permanent one when the bidding opens in the summer.

It means that Arsenal may need to find another solution for Tierney, who remains tied down at the Emirates Stadium until 2026. He was previously linked with a move to Newcastle United, but nothing materialised and he ended up joining Real Sociedad on a temporary basis.

Tierney is not the only player Arsenal may look to sell before the start of next season, with several others thought to be on the chopping block. It has been reported that Eddie Nketiah will be allowed to leave the Gunners amid interest from the likes of Crystal Palace and Brentford.

Thomas Partey, another player with an extensive injury record, has been tipped to move on as he nears the final 12 months of his contract. The likes of Aaron Ramsdale, Reiss Nelson, Cedric Soares and Nuno Tavares also seem to be facing uncertain futures in north London.
