Arsenal chief Edu visits Brazil as transfer theory floated that could ruin Liverpool plans

Arsenal supporters have floated a transfer theory after Edu made a trip to Brazil late last week. The Gunners sporting director paid a visit to Fluminense, whose midfielder Andre has been linked with a move to Premier League rivals Liverpool.

Edu has returned to Brazil on a few occasions to make signings since being appointed into his role at the Emirates. Gabriel Martinelli and Marquinhos both joined as youngsters, while he also had a big influence in luring defender Pablo Mari to north London.

While the international break is ongoing, Edu is seemingly building up relations in his home country. Fluminense’s official X account posted images of the former midfielder on Friday at CT Vale das Laranjeiras, their academy training base.

In a brief statement on the club’s website, Edu said: “I really liked everything presented to us here. It’s an impressive piece of work. The atmosphere at CT de Xerem is different.”

But Arsenal fans on Reddit believe he could also be there for transfer business. One user has heard information that the Gunners are trying to sign Andre, as well as having an eye on a couple of younger players.

zrk23 wrote: “It is said by some Fluminense insider they are trying to get Andre, whom Liverpool also wants. Arsenal also looking at multiple youngsters, one of them being Kaua Elias, who is a forward. For context, Fluminense have one of the best academies in Brazil.”

Fellow supporters were quick to react, insisting they would be happy with the arrival of Andre. AlwaysOnsideTBH wrote: “I know nothing about the academies in Brazil or any of the names of high rated Brazilian youngsters but I have complete trust in Edu and that’s good enough for me.”

PrimalGamesTV also gave their verdict, writing: “Andre would be an amazing signing.” While another supporter is excited at the prospect of Arsenal entering the Brazilian market again.

aindie2009 posted: “Glad we are paying more attention to the South American market, South America still provides the best value for talent. It’s a shame that Real Madrid, Barcelona and Chelsea have scooped up so much talent recently.”

One fan did admit that Andre would be more likely to get game time at Liverpool. WoodworthAugusta said: “At the moment I would think we have more Brazilian pull than Liverpool but maybe he starts there.”

Liverpool oversaw a major overhaul of their squad in the summer. Jurgen Klopp let five players go and brought in four replacements.

Andre, though, continues to be linked with a move to Anfield. The 23-year-old made his debut for Brazil earlier this year and Liverpool may have to be wary they will not be the only club interested in his services.
