Arsenal could save themselves £85million and achieve one of their most important transfer goals by signing Serhou Guirassy from Stuttgart in the January transfer window. The Gunners are desperate to bring in a new No. 9 next month and have been credited with holding an interest in several top-quality stars.
Mikel Arteta has led his side to a sensational start to the season, with his team sitting in second place in the Premier League after winning 11 of their opening 16 matches. The Gunners’ summer spending spree has played a key role in injecting fresh quality into the squad, with Declan Rice making a significant impact since his arrival from West Ham.
And Arsenal will be hoping to enjoy another successful window by winning the race to sign Guirassy. Numerous clubs are in the race to sign the Guinea international, with Manchester United, Tottenham and West Ham all holding an interest in acquiring his services.
Guirassy’s £15million release clause is proving very attractive to suitors, and Arsenal are the latest side linked with monitoring his situation as a result. Arteta will feel in a strong position to lure the ex-Amiens star to the Emirates Stadium, with the prospect of being involved in a title race likely to prove attractive to any player approached in January.
If ruled a viable option, Arsenal could push vigorously for Guirassy due to the savings that they will make by pursuing him as well. The Gunners have been heavily linked with making a move for Brentford star Ivan Toney in January, but it has been ruled that only an offer of £100m would test the resolve of the Bees.
Thus, signing Guirassy, who has scored 16 goals in 12 Bundesliga appearances, for a snippet of Toney’s price tag could prove an impressive piece of business by Arteta. Although the Stuttgart star is unproven in the Premier League, his bargain release clause holds very few risks.
