Arrests after pigeons mutilated with swastikas found in town centre

The incident, in the riverside market town of St Neots in Cambridgeshire, is being treated as a hate crime. Police officers were called to the High Street area of St Neots, on August 22, to reports that mutilated dead birds had been found.

A woman and a man, both in their 20s, were arrested on suspicion of a racial/religious public order offence on August 30, said Cambridgeshire Police. The arrested woman was 21 years old and from Baldock, Hertfordshire, while the man was aged 23 and from Chatteris in Cambridgeshire, added police.

The birds are understood to have been found on the ground next to wheelie bins, in an alleyway off Brook Street, near the High Street.
