When told that he had been in the headlines over rumours taking him to Liverpool, Slot smirked and replied: “I am, I can’t deny that.” He then insisted the only focus was on Feyenoord’s upcoming match: “Tonight we are playing Go Ahead Eagles.”
Slot, seemingly very keen to make the switch, has already received backing from Liverpool’s captain Virgil van Dijk. “I find it hard to answer of course, but I think Arne Slot is perhaps one of the better Dutch coaches at this moment,” the centre-back told Viaplay.
“I think the way of playing and the philosophy he has, that he could be a Liverpool coach. Only I think from what I read and hear is that it’s still far from being completed. We shall see.”
