Armed police and helicopter rush to quiet road after man slashed in face in broad daylight


Armed police have swarmed an area and a helicopter is hovering overheard after a man had his face slashed near a pub this morning. The 25-year-old victim of the attack is reported to have suffered “serious facial injuries” and was taken to hospital.

A Cheshire Police spokesperson said: “Officers were called at 8.25am today, Friday, March 31, following reports of a disturbance on Milton Road, Widnes.

“Patrols, supported by firearms officers, swiftly attended the scene and found a 25-year-old man with serious facial injuries.

“He was taken to hospital where his condition is not believed to be life-threatening.

“Enquiries in relation to the incident are ongoing.”
