Another devastating explosion rocks Moscow as huge inferno erupts at warehouse

A massive fire has broken out in Russia, with video showing warehouses ablaze.

Social media reports say it broke out near a toll road in the western industrial zone of Odintsovo, near Moscow.

Preliminary information holds that warehouses are on fire, but the cause of the fire is unknown.

But it comes just a week after Russia said it shot down two Ukrainian drones in the Odintsovo and Naro-Fominsk districts.

Posting on Russian social media network VKontakte (VK), verified user Typical Odintsovo shared the clip.

The account then added that the fire was localized in an area of 2,000 square meters.

The press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations for the Moscow Region added: “In Odintsovo on Zelenaya Street, 30a, a warehouse caught fire on an area of 2,000 square meters.

“There were no reports of casualties.”

State media outlet TASS confirmed the news, noting that Odintsovo is to the west of Moscow between Vladimir Putin’s official residence and the Vnukovo airport.

On August 1, it was reported that a Moscow high-rise building, housing Russian government ministries, was hit by a drone for the second time in just three days.

The same day, air defence systems shot down the two drones in Odintsovo and Naro-Fominsk, in what the Russian defence ministry called an “attempted terrorist attack”.

And back in May, three people died in the same region when a fire broke out in a paper warehouse.

“A warehouse with paper and cardboard caught fire in Odintsovo near Moscow … three workers died, the fire was eliminated,” an emergency services representative was cited by Russia’s RIA state news agency as saying.
