A group of Americans were left gagging after trying a popular Irish drink for the first time.
TikTok user @theelitone posted a clip of himself and friends trying Guinness, the Irish drink which is very popular across the UK.
He says: “Alright, it’s Friday night, I’m at the bar, and I finally did it.”
He said the bartender asked him a “strange question” – whether or not he would like a “half pour”.
“I’m not a Guinness drinker,” the TikToker said. “I don’t know what he meant by that, or what that does to anything.”
Guinness is usually poured until it’s a centimetre or two from the the rim of the glass, left to settle for a minute, and then topped up.
After he tries the drink, opting for the half pour method, he remarks: “I assume this is way better in the UK.
“I have tears in my eyes. I’m not gonna lie this tastes really, really bad.
“My tongue tastes like I need to wipe it on sandpaper. But if I’m in the moment, it’s cool, it’s cool.”
“I’m almost positive its better there,” he said, referring to the UK.
He then passes the drink to his friend, who smells it and refuses to drink it, immediately handing it back to him while making a gagging sound.
Another friend remarks: “What do the UK be drinking?”
He then says: “Alright, I guess its just me then.”
