Amazon updates credit card offering – customers could earn a bonus of £219

The e-commerce giant has improved the offerings attached to two of its popular credit cards in the US.

Amazon’s Prime Visa and Amazon Visa now have an improved aesthetic and additional reward.

Customers in the US could be entitled to a bonus $275 (£219.31) thanks to this latest update.

Formerly called the Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Signature Card and Amazon Rewards Visa Signature Card, these credit cards are offered by both Chase and Amazon.

However, each card has different rewards attached which are based on if the customer meets certain criteria.

What does the Prime Visa offer?

Customers in the US who chose to take out this credit card could earn up to $275 (£219.31) thanks to bonuses.

The Prime Visa has no annual charges and a variable APR of between 18.99 and 26.99 percent.

Those who are approved for the card are entitled to a $150 (£119.62) Amazon gift card which can be used without having to meet spending requirements.

Furthermore, with the new offer, customers earn five percent cash back on the first $2,500 (£1,993.72) they spend within three months of account opening.

It is also possible to earn back this same hiked rate when booking travel expenses via Chase.

Cardholders will now be able to earn two percent cash back on local transit and rideshare services, such as Uber and Lyft.

It should be noted that eligibility for this card is dependent on Amazon Prime membership which currently comes to $139 (£110.85).

However, the cost of Prime membership can be offset by the initial gift card offering once qualifying for Amazon Visa.

What does the Amazon Visa offer?

Similar to its counterpart, this credit card offers customers in the US up to $105 (£83.74) for signing up.

The Amazon Visa also has no annual charges and a variable APR of between 18.99 and 26.99 percent.

This particular card is reserved for customers who do not have an Amazon Prime membership.

As part of its renewed offering, cardholders will be able to earn three percent back on the first $1,500 (£1,196.23) they spend within the first three months of the account opening.

For context, this is worth up to $45 (£35.89) and is significantly less than the maximum bonus earned from the Prime Visa card.

However, customers will be able to receive an Amazon gift card immediately worth $60 (£47.85).

Included in the Amazon Prime credit card’s new rewards offer is three percent cash back with any travel booked via Chase.

Similar to the Prime Visa, customers will be able to get two percent on local transit rides, including ride shares.
