Alleged Madison Brooks rapist hit with third charge after 'sex attack' on girl at same bar

An 18-year-old arrested for allegedly raping US university student Madison Brooks faces a third rape charge since criminal proceedings in the Brooks case got underway. Kaivon Washington’s third sexual assault charge resembles the events that allegedly occurred the night Brooks died. Washington and an unnamed 17-year-old stand accused of raping Ms Brooks in the backseat of a car after they picked up the intoxicated student at a bar called Reggie’s in the US city of Baton Rouge, Louisiana before she was fatally stuck by a car.

Like Ms Brooks, the alleged victim in the October 2022 incident drank at the same LSU bar and met Washington and another man, who was referred to in court documents as her “acquaintance” – 18-year-old Karson Jones. Mr Jones also faces a first-degree rape charge.

The October victim, whose age was not identified in court records, was deemed too drunk to drive, so Mr Jones and Mr Washington allegedly drove her from the bar to Mr Jones’ home. There, both men allegedly sexually assaulted her and plied her with alcohol when she asked for water, according to the arrest warrant.

Forensic reports also concluded Ms Brooks’ blood alcohol level was four times the legal limit at the time of her death.

Kerry Miller, the Louisiana attorney representing Brooks’ mother, Ashley Baustert, told Fox News Digital during a phone interview on Wednesday that the accusations “accumulate and paint a disturbing picture”.

“There are a lot of similarities that suggest a MO,” Ms Miller said.

“It was the same bar, more than one man was involved, the use of alcoholic beverages being used and being separated from friends. … It suggests he preys on vulnerable women.”

The victim in the alleged October 2022 rape reported the crime on January 25, which was one day after Washington and three other men were arrested in connection with Ms Brooks’ alleged rape.

The latest charge comes after Mr Washington had been arrested for first-degree rape in a separate case one day after making bail in relation to the Madison Brooks case.

“Finally, the victim never accused Mr Washington of having sexual intercourse with her, thus we are curious as to why he was charged with rape.”

The victim in the October 2022 incident was too drunk to drive home, and asked Mr Jones if she could sleep at his place, according to the arrest warrant.

When they got inside, Mr Jones threatened to kick her out if Mr Washington couldn’t watch them have sex, she alleges in police documents.

Sex with Mr Jones was consensual at first, according to the warrant, but then he allegedly “pinned her down and became increasingly aggressive, at which time she repeatedly told him to stop, and he repeatedly ignored her”.

Mr Jones allegedly “grabbed her face and held her mouth open as Washington poured the drink down their throat”, the warrant says, and continued having sex with her while Mr Washington allegedly watched and then joined in by groping her.

Afterward, Mr Washington allegedly apologised to the victim in a text message and claimed Mr Jones grabbed Mr Washington’s hands to grope her, according to the warrant.
