A royal super fan was on the front line of the royal walkabout in Birmingham, capturing a “really sweet” moment between Prince William and Princess Kate’s former teacher. Eagerly standing and waiting among other royal supporters, the fan caught Prince William in a heartfelt conversation with John Parsons – Princess Kate’s former maths teacher.
In the video, Prince William is holding a bouquet of flowers, and chatting with the man who taught the Princess of Wales in the classrooms of St Andrew’s Independent Preparatory school in Berkshire. Prince William then looks over to Princess Kate and calls her over for an “adorable” reunion.
John Parsons not only taught Princess Kate, but also gave lessons to her siblings including Pippa Middleton, now known as Pippa Matthews, and James Middleton.
Caitlan Stevenson, 28, a lawyer from Birmingham who lives in the city, was excited to witness the precious moment. She said: “Kate’s old school teacher was talking about how he used to teach Kate and they were discussing old memories.”
She added: “It was a really sweet moment. The Prince and Princess of Wales are just lovely, aren’t they? It was a really exciting morning and I was a little bit nervous about being there, but I’m also now excited about the upcoming Coronation.”

Speaking of the crowd and the atmosphere at the Jewellery Quarter in Birmingham, Ms Stevenson described an unfortunate moment for one fan that was waiting a very long time to spot the royal couple.
She said: “People had been waiting since 10.30am in the morning to see the royals. An old woman fainted while she was standing and security had to step in to look after her.”
Another famous face in the crowds was Alison Hammond, presenter of ITV’s This Morning.
Ms Stevenson said: “Alison Hammond was funny, she came out and waved to everyone and was her hilarious self.”
It was the Prince and Princess of Wales’s first public engagement in Birmingham after spending the Easter holidays with their children.
The royal couple were celebrating the city’s “diverse culture and heritage” and were hosting an event for local business owners in The Rectory, located in the historic Jewellery Quarter.
Throughout the day they met with future leaders in the arts and creative industries, and even tried their hand at darts.
The visit is part of a wider tour of the UK, ahead of King Charles’s Coronation next month on Saturday, May 6.
