A dog with a lop-sided face has won hearts around the world after he was put up for adoption. Harvey the adorable husky found a loving home by chance – after new owner Sherry Lankston stumbled upon a shelter’s Facebook post in February.
It inspired a 2,500 round trip across the US to meet him, with Sherry travelling from Washington State to San Diego, California.
Recalling their first meeting, Sherry told Good Morning America: “It’s that face where he’s just like smiling, his tongue lolling out and he just looked like the happiest, goofiest dog.
“Just so goofy, and I was like, ‘Oh, I love this dog already!’”
Harvey, who is 18 months old, was named after Harvey Dent, the villain also known as Two-Face in Batman due to his lopsided look.
He was picked up from the San Diego Department of Animal Services, who shared the pooch online.
Joy Ollinger, a lieutenant at the shelter, said: “[Harvey] has a facial deformity so he was getting overlooked all the time and I started having him in my office to get to know him a little better.
“And then I started posting him on my personal Facebook and that’s how Sherry (Lankston) saw him.”
Ollinger had grown fond of the “very intelligent” pup who loved to “put his paws up on the desk”.
The lieutenant also stressed Harvey’s deformity doesn’t impact his health in any way.

“He was never asked about or taken on an interact by anyone until Sherry came along,” she explained.
“And he was a shelter favourite and a volunteer favourite so he got lots of time out in the play yards with the volunteers and he got time in my office, but he had zero interest by adopters.”
Sherry, a mum-of-two, brought her sons from Oregon on the 19-hour drive, along with their dog River.
“I was like, ‘You know what? We’re coming.’ We’re gonna do it, might as well road trip and took a day to pack and left the next morning,” Lankston said.
“Three days later, we were there. We made an adventure out of it to go down because I wanted this to be a good memory for the boys and for me.”
