Abu Dhabi GP LIVE: Hamilton battles with qualifying misery after Verstappen rule change

The F1 season is steaming to the finish as the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix brings the curtain down on another frenetic season of non-stop action.

After a chaotic qualifying session on Saturday, championship winner Max Verstappen starts on pole, while his long term nemesis Lewis Hamilton finds himself way back in the field after being unceremoniously knocked out.

Hamilton’s disappointing season has once again sparked big questions regarding his F1 retirement, and his future relationship with the Mercedes team.

Race director Niels Wittich was forced to declare overtaking in the pit lane as prohibited outside of extenuating circumstances after Verstappen caused chaos with his actions during Friday’s second practice session.

Verstappen found himself in the headlines for the wrong reasons on Friday following some impatient overtaking manoeuvres in the pit lane. The reigning world champion was in a rush to get out on track at the start of FP2, attempting to barge past both Mercedes drivers in the underpass.

Tension is tilted at an all time high as egos go back on the line to close out the season.

Express Sport is on hand to provide moment by moment live updates of all the action from the Yas Marina Circuit.
