'Absolutely shocking' major incident at Stoke-on-Trent Tesco as police descend on car park

A major incident in Stoke-on-Trent has led police to cordon off a Tesco car park in Meir Park.

Police with dog units have been joined by paramedics at the scene on Lysander Road this evening.

Eyewitnesses have described the “shocking” police presence, with officers arriving as people continue to shop in-store.

They told Stoke-on-Trent Live officers are “everywhere”, with “a couple of police cars” in attendance and an area outside the car park “cordoned off with police tape”.

The eyewitness added: “There’s about eight police officers outside the store but they are still allowing people to go in to do their shopping.

“The car park and the store is very busy with people.”
