16FT python spotted slithering along pavement is reunited with owner – 200 miles away

A giant 16-foot python was caught after months on the loose. Found in an Austin home, the albino reticulated python was left lethargic by Texas’ cold temperatures amid the winter storm.

The Austin Animal Center said a handful of Austin residents called them about the python, which they had managed to capture in their garage.

The residents said the snake was lethargic because of the temperatures, and they were able to grab it.

Since July, people in the area have flagged the python roaming freely, after it was stolen from a Dallas man’s car.

Posting on Facebook, Austin Animal Center said they recognised “a lost/found post for a large albino snake a few months ago”.

“After searching online with no success, they contacted a former intake staff member with a mind like a steel trap”, they added.

“And sure enough, she immediately located the Nextdoor post with the owner’s info in the comments!

“We called him up and he was able to identify a unique feature of the python. He drove down the next day to pick her up.”
