15 youths launch violent attack on woman outside Nisa supermarket


A large group of youths – both boys and girls – assaulted a young woman outside a Nisa supermarket.

The woman in her 20s was targeted at around 8pm on Monday, March 13, and needed to go to hospital for treatment for leg and facial injuries.

Police believe around 15 boys and girls were involved in the fracas, which happened by the Nisa Local in Burton-upon-Trent, Staffordshire Live reports.

A spokesman for Staffordshire Constabulary said: “We are appealing for information after a woman was assaulted by a group of youths in Burton-on-Trent recently. The woman, in her 20s, was assaulted by a group of around 15 boys and girls, outside a supermarket on Horninglow Road North, at 8pm on Monday (13 March).

“The victim sustained facial and leg injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment. We do not believe that there is any wider risk to the public at this time.

“We are currently reviewing CCTV of the area at the time of the assault.”

It happened on Horninglow Road North, which forms part of the A511 through Burton-upon-Trent, and goes northwest to Tutbury and Uttoxeter.

It comes after four boys as young as 12 were arrested after a pensioner was badly injured at an Asda by a trolley being pushed from the top of an escalator.

A man in his 80s was going up an escalator at the supermarket when it was alleged an empty shopping trolley was pushed from the top and knocked him back to the ground floor in Gravesend, Kent.
