14-year-old boy who murdered brother, 17, sent pal eerie note about family

A 14-year-old boy suspected of murdering his 17-year-old brother had a “hit list” including members of his own family, police say.

The teenager, from Pike County, Alabama is said to have even asked his friend to help kill the rest of the people on the list.

Authorities believe he shot his brother before telling the friend from school what he had done. After he asked his friend to help kill his family and bury the bodies, police say they found the twisted list.

Pike County Sheriff Russell Thomas said the 17-year-old victim was found dead at his family home on Tuesday.

The father of the boys said his elder son has been missing since Monday.

The Pike County Sheriff’s Office said: “He stated his brother got up and staggered out of the residence and out the back door, where he then fell at the bottom of the steps. He dragged him about 60 yards to the back of the property.”

The younger brother’s school asked the father to pick him up because he seemed sad about his brother’s disappearance.

The boy was then taken into custody and charged with murder.

Sheriff Thomas said: “We are very fortunate and blessed we do not have more casualties as the result of a 14-year-old having access to a weapon.”

The school system assured there was no threat to students at the campus, but said they will increase law enforcement presence on the Brundidge campuses as a precaution.

Mental health wellness support has also been made available for students and staff. Superintendent Mark Bazzell said in a statement: “The Pike County School system would like to express its deepest condolences to the family and friends impacted by this tragic event.”
