Yellowstone is one of the most popular shows on the Paramount Network and fans are desperate to jump back in after an exhausting wait for season four. However, ahead of the season four release date comes an update on season five, which has essentially confirmed the development of the fifth season. But when should fans expect season five to premiere?
When is season five of Yellowstone out?
Yellowstone fans have been put to the test with the wait for season four, only just receiving an update from Paramount on when to expect the latest season.
There is still some time to go, with the release confirmed to be coming in the Autumn of 2021, but there hasn’t been a specific date given by the broadcaster.
After three seasons, the show has gone from strength to strength, proving to be one of Paramount’s most popular properties.
With that in mind, a lot of fans will be overjoyed to discover season five is already in development, way ahead of the release of season four.
In a recent interview with Kathryn Hall on her YouTube channel, Rip Wheeler star Cole Hauser gave fans the good news.

Filming for season four is already complete, with the season just being finalised in post-production.
When Hauser was asked when filming would commence again, the star explained: “I mean Taylor [Sheridan] is working on it right now,” referring to season five.
Hauser added: “I think we will be back sometime in July, I’m looking forward to getting back to Montana.”
This would put the series back on track to hit its original release schedule, with season four suffering numerous delays caused by the coronavirus pandemic and re-shoots.
Hauser also gave fans some hints about what to expect in season four, saying fans won’t be disappointed with how it ends.
Sheridan continued: “You can’t walk in circles, waiting to get there, because the show will stagnate… Can that be another two seasons beyond this? It could.”
For now, fans will have to wait and see how season four plays out, with the details around the series still being kept close to the chest by Paramount.
Paramount has released the first trailer for the fourth season, however, which gives some insight on what to expect.
During the trailer, Rip Wheeler can be seen saying, “John, don’t you die on me now, not like this, can you hear me?”
Kevin Costner will return to the role and he will be joined by Kayce Dutton (played by Luke Grimes), Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly), Jamie Dutton (Wes Bentley) and Monica Dutton (Kelsey Asbille).
The series is also receiving two spin-offs, Yellowstone: 6666 and Yellowstone: 1883.
The first will be set during the time period of the original series, but this time taking place in Texas, rather than the Dutton ranch in Montana.
Meanwhile, 1883 will go back to the early days of the Dutton ranch, serving as a prequel and embracing the series’ Western roots.
More details on season five of Yellowstone will emerge following the release of season four this Autumn.
Yellowstone is available to watch on Paramount and Peacock.
