Coronation Street remains a much-loved part of the ITV schedule and fans enjoy watching the drama unfold. Rana Habeeb (played by Bhavna Limbachia) arrived on the cobbles in 2016 and she was the daughter of Hassan (Kriss Dosanjh) and Saira (Kim Vithana). She met her demise in March 2019 when a roof collapsed on her at Underworld and fans were devastated to see her leave.
Why did Bhavna Limbachia leave Coronation Street?
Limbachia’s character joined the soap so she could rekindle her relationship with old friend Alya Nazir (Sair Khan).
She began dating Alya’s brother Zeedan (Qasim Akhtar) and the following year she began a relationship with Kate Connor (Faye Brookes), which caused issues amongst her family.
She married Zeedan but continued her affair with Kate until the truth came out in 2018.
The pair were able to stay together despite the turmoil and they were due to marry, but tragedy struck when Rana was killed on her wedding day.
After the roof at Underworld was vandalised, it collapsed on her and she died in Kate’s arms.

Fans were left in tears as the couple managed to exchange their vows before Rana slipped away.
Actress Limbachia spoke about why she left the series and she admitted it had been her decision to walk away.
She told This Morning: “When I decided to leave the show, I wanted to have a meeting with the producers.
“I wanted to go into the meeting with a solution as to how she would leave the show.”
Fans were pleased to hear the star was able to leave on her own terms, and she only had good words to say about the job.
After leaving the soap, she said she would like to branch out into comedy work.
The star has taken on some theatre work since leaving the series and fans have been keeping up to date with her latest projects on Instagram.
In one post from August 2020, she said: “An absolute joy working with @mrkelseygrammer. So grateful to have been working during these uncertain times.
“The film & TV industry are slowly getting back on their feet, lets hope the same will follow for theatre.”
One fan responded: “Congratulations. Amazing! Sooo miss you on Corrie.” (Sic).
The star announced the news of her departure in a video on Twitter back in January 2019.
From her dressing room, she said: “Just wanted to give you a little message to say thank you so much for following Rana’s journey and for the continued support of the storyline.
“I do have some news, my journey at Coronation Street will be coming to an end. But don’t worry guys, I have extended my contract.
“I have had a wonderful time here but there’s still lots more to film and I’m really grateful to Iain [MacLeod], our producer, for respecting my decision to leave.”
