Westlife perform at an intimate show following the release of their new single My Hero


Westlife performed at an intimate evening at the Pan Pacific in London on Friday night, following the release of their new single My Hero. 

The foursome looked the part as they all wore matching suede jackets for the affair, which was hosted by Vernon Kay. 

The boyband recently took to the stage at the Pride Of Britain Awards to share the new track, which has been released in conjunction with their tour tickets.

Shane Filan, Markus Feehily, Kian Egan, and Nicky Byrne delightedly revealed that My Hero, co-written by Ed Sheeran and Steve Mac, has ‘strong significance’ to them as they revelled in their chart return. 

Also in attendance at the small gig was actress Claire Sweeney, who posed arm in arm with Vernon. 

My Hero is an emotional new ballad from their new album Wild Dreams’, and was played to more than five million viewers during the Pride Of Britain finale.

The epic performance saw Shane, Nicky, Mark and Kian in sensational form as they were joined on stage by this year’s award-winners.

Speaking about the track, the band said: ‘My Hero has such beautiful lyrics. It is a powerful, heartfelt song which has such a strong meaning for all of us…

‘The single reminds us of the heroics people have shown over the last 18 months and it also reflects on our own loved-ones who so often have been our personal heroes…

‘The track is packed with emotion and has the potential to really connect with people. Performing it for millions of Pride of Britain viewers was the perfect launch for ‘My Hero’ which will be included on our upcoming new album ‘Wild Dreams’.’

The new video sees the foursome in the studio performing a classic acoustic version of the track, has also been released.

My Hero’s release follows Westlife’s return to music last month with the announcement of their new album and upcoming tour. 

Westlife fans were left heartbroken when a number of the band’s planned dates were axed throughout the coronavirus pandemic.

So devotees of the group were delighted to hear the group are headed on the road next year on The Wild Dreams Tour, which will take them across the UK’s biggest arenas as well as a new album. 

Speaking exclusively to MailOnline, Kian, 41, said: ‘After the terrible 18 months we’ve all had, we’re giving this tour our all. I think it’ll be the best Westlife tour yet with some amazing surprises thrown in.’

Following endless delays in the live music industry throughout the pandemic, Westlife are delighted to announce they will be touring once again.

Kian said: ‘Me and the lads missed each other throughout the lockdown and didn’t see each other for well over a year so it is going to be fantastic to get back on the road together again next year!…

‘We’ll be making up for lost time and will be giving our fans the best shows of our lives. After the terrible 18 months we’ve all had, we’re giving this tour our all. I think it’ll be the best Westlife tour yet with some amazing surprises thrown in…

‘We’ll be playing all of our greatest hits and some of our new songs which have gone down so well. We’re also excited to be releasing our new album next month. Our last album, in 2019, went straight to number one and that’s where we want to be again.’
