The television chef announced her happy news during an appearance on Loose Women, and said she cried for ten minutes before accepting Dennis’ proposal after he popped the question on his birthday.
Lorraine said: ‘Big news: I got engaged over lockdown. The lucky man is Dennis O’Brien, he’s amazing, we’ve been together for three years.
‘It was during the second lockdown and it was actually on his birthday it was just when the restaurants were opening, and they were delaying their opening and he and I were testing recipes and he proposed and I cried for ten minutes before I said yes, I cried and cried and cried.’

And the chef talked about her daughter Ella, who has carved a successful career in the acting industry having starred in Charlie’s Angels alongside Kristen Stewart.
She said: ‘You know what I haven’t seen Ella since March and I miss her so much.
‘She’s doing incredibly well, she’s got two projects coming up which will be announced soon. She’s really happy, living the dream and enjoying the hot weather.’

The television personality first rose to fame in the modelling industry after being scouted by the agent who scouted Naomi Campbell.
Based in New York, Lorraine achieved recognition as the first black British model to appear on the cover of American Elle.
Lorraine took a diploma cookery course at Leith’s School of Food and Wine in 2005 and found that cookery fitted her ‘like a pair of old jeans’ and went on to establish herself as a specialist cakemaker, with a contract with Selfridges.
On Loose Women, the chef spoke about how she is doing a master’s degree in Psychology and a doctorate.
She told the panel: ‘I’ve been through so much nonsense in my life I wanted to put it to good use. if you find real meaning to it, it can be healing.
‘Rather than be a TV chef talking about her experiences I wanted to do something different.
‘When I was modelling I felt it was fun and everything but I couldn’t be who I wanted to be, it was the same with cooking.

‘At first it was fun, but then after a few episodes it was you have to make this recipe, and this one… I thought you know what I’m just going to totally change, totally be me, stop being so reserved and be totally myself.’
Lorraine said the career change would be to help others after experiencing ’emotionally abusive relationships’.
She said: ‘I’ve been in bad relationships, emotionally abusive ones, I got dumped the day my mum passed away, I wanted to put what I learned through much therapy and training to help other people… we’re talking about Black Lives Matter and it’s great, but I hope it can come in the forefront with mental health.’
