Tottenham boss Antonio Conte 'could miss Vitesse clash' as Spurs sweat on work permit

Antonio Conte could potentially miss Tottenham’s UEFA Conference League clash with Dutch side Vitesse on Thursday as the club wait for the Italian’s work permit to be approved, according to reports in Italy. The former Chelsea and Inter Milan boss was unveiled as Spurs’ new manager on Tuesday following the sacking of Nuno Espirito Santo on Monday in the aftermath on the 3-0 defeat to Manchester United last weekend.

Conte flew into London on Monday to put the finishing touches on his return to management before staying overnight at Tottenham’s Hotspur Way training ground in Enfield.

The final formalities including official pictures and the signing of his contract then took place this morning before he was presented to the players.

There has been a real buzz around the club ever since Conte’s links with Tottenham began to consolidate and Daniel Levy and Fabio Paratici were able to complete the deal swiftly this time around after previously failing to charm their new boss earlier this summer.

Tottenham were hopeful of having Conte in the dugout when they host Vitesse in Europe this Thursday but doubts have now emerged as to whether that will be possible.
