Season ten of The Walking Dead is still going strong after making its grand return from last year’s COVID delays. This week, the AMC zombie epic treated fans with an appearance from one of cinema’s most iconic villains, but left them wanting much more following a shocking climax courtesy of Father Gabriel (played by Seth Gilliam).
Father Gabriel faced off against the T-1000 himself, Robert Patrick, in this week’s tension-filled episode of The Walking Dead.
Fans were thrilled to learn the Terminator star would be joining the series as Mays, a twisted new rival for the hardened preacher and his companion, Aaron (Ross Marquand).
In the third bonus episode of the horror series tenth season, ‘One More’, Gabriel attempts to reason with Patrick’s guest villain, Mays, after he removes Aaron’s mace arm attachment.
Gabriel tries to appeal to their captor’s faith after spotting a pile of Bibles, though Mays confesses he has started to use the torn-out papers as toilet paper.

The troubled recluse then subjects the survivors to a twisted game of Russian roulette for their survival.
Although the priest’s impromptu sermon manages to convince Mays to release Aaron and return with them to Alexandria, Gabriel decides to prevent further trouble and take him out with a swift blow to the head.
Some viewers were thrilled to see The Walking Dead deliver another unpredictable and brutal twist in the climax of the new episode.
Unfortunately, others expressed disappointment that the series would opt to waste an appearance from Robert Patrick on just a single episode.
A number of fans had speculated the series was pitching Patrick as a new villain following Negan’s (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) redemption and the defeat of the Whisperers in season ten.
Sadly, this wasn’t the case, and the formidable Terminator star likely won’t be making any more appearances as the series continues.
To add insult to injury, this week’s episode briefly introduced another character portrayed by the short-lived guest star; Mays’ imprisoned twin brother.
However, just as fans were starting to think Patrick could make it onto TWD’s regular cast after all, the brother instead decides to put an end to his misery, ending his life with Gabriel’s gun.
One fan wrote: “Hey, Mays is a twin. What a neat way to keep Robert Patrick – oh, he shot himself. Never mind.”
While another joked: “Really hoping for a third Robert Patrick that lives at the water tower to greet Gabriel and Aaron happily and come home with them.”
Thankfully, there’s still three more episodes and a whole other season still to come, so there are still plenty of opportunities for TWD to introduce more exciting guest stars before the series comes to an end.
The Walking Dead season 10 continues Sunday, March 21 on AMC.
