Ugo, 38, is best known for being a pinnacle member of the England Rugby team and has since retired from the profession to become a pundit. With this year’s season of Strictly Come Dancing just around the corner, his name has been thrown into the ring as a potential contestant vying for the Glitterball Trophy this autumn. With the announcement of this year’s casting beginning any day now, reports are suggesting he could be the first celebrity to feature on the BBC programme.
A source explained his link to last year’s contestant and Made in Chelsea star, Jamie Laing, 32, could be another reason why bosses are keen to get him on board.
The insider said: “Ugo can’t wait to get out on the dance floor and show off his moves. He’s not known for his dancing, but he isn’t afraid of a challenge.
“Ugo is very much a rising star at the BBC. He is a captain on the revamped Question Of Sport and getting a turn on Strictly will help boost his profile even further.
“Strictly bosses think he is a great signing and, who knows, maybe he’ll be as good at the waltz as he was on the wing,” they told The Sun.
Express.co.uk has contacted a representative of the Saturday night entertainment programme for comment on the reports.

Ugo would not be the first rugby player to take part in the competition as a legion of icons have turned their hand in the past.
The likes of Kenny Logan, 49, Matt Dawson, 48, and Ben Cohen, 42, have vied for the Glitterball Trophy but none of them managed to secure the title of champion.
There have already been a number of other celebrity names linked to this year’s season, which will resume to usual proceedings following the changes made last year due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Television presenter Ben Fogle, 47, could be signing up after he turned down the opportunity to show off his dance skills last season.
Former contestant Gabby Logan, 48, first made the comments about Rio taking part on her podcast, MidPoint, where she was speaking with host Tess Daly, 52.
The sports commentator said: “I was trying to persuade Rio Ferdinand. You need to get your producers onto him. I almost had him.
“He said, ‘Did you really enjoy it?’ I said, “How often do they ask you?” He said, ‘Every year’. He’d be incredible, and he’s a dancer!”
Another famous face who could be ready to showcase their moves on the dance floor is reigning I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! champion, Giovanna Fletcher, 36
