Stacey Solomon says she’s still dealing with ‘tremendous guilt’ over postnatal depression

Stacey Solomon, 31, has opened up on her regrets over the struggles she dealt with when she welcomed her eldest son Zachary, 12, into the world when she was just 18-years-old. The Loose Women panellist, who is now a mum-of-three, said she is still wracked with “tremendous guilt” over suffering postnatal depression after she gave birth for the first time.

She explained: “I have moments with Zachy where I think ‘Oh, I wish I loved you from the very minute’.

“Not that I didn’t, I’m sure I did, I just didn’t feel it, and I didn’t get it. And it brings me tremendous guilt.”

Stacey added that although she struggled with similar “gut-wrenchingly unhappy” emotions after the birth of her and fiancé Joe Swash’s youngest son, Rex, two years ago, she knew her sadness would pass from experience.

The star said: “I will always be a teenage mum from Dagenham.

“I was the girl on the bus with a baby and everyone was tutting at me – because I looked like a baby with a baby.”

After reflecting on the difficulties she faced as a young mum, Stacey shared her and Joe’s tearful reaction to stepping into their dream home, Pickle Cottage, for the first time.

“We got really emotional,” she told the Mad World podcast.

The Tap to Tidy author continued: “I had a baby really young and everyone said my life was over and I’d never be a success. We cried a bit.

“I spend less energy that way,” she divulged.

Stacey is mum to three boys Zachary, 13, Leighton, eight, and Rex, who turns two next month.

Last month, Stacey and her family moved into their brand new country home dubbed Pickle Cottage.

While sharing the news with fans, she said: “Never in a million years did we ever think this would be.

“We feel so lucky and are so grateful to have found this hidden treasure closer to our family and further out.”

Ever since the move, the DIY-loving star has been sharing updates on Instagram.

Stacey recently stunned fans with her downstairs toilet make-over.

The creative star brought the vintage cistern back to life with cleaning hacks before painting the walls blue and panelling the walls.

As well as putting up two shelves, she also fitted a toilet roll holder and towel ring.
