Six Liverpool players who could be moved on in January as Jurgen Klopp makes plan

Liverpool have seemingly put last season’s jitters behind them with a strong start to this season’s Premier League. And with the top six all spending considerably more amounts of money in the summer, Liverpool may have to sell to buy to go top of the league at the end of the season. Express Sport takes a look at six players they could sell or loan.

Nat Phillips

One season’s hero, next season’s forgotten man. Nat Phillips was a huge part of Liverpool’s campaign last season, making 20 appearances as the Reds recovered from an onslaught of defeats and an injury crisis in the league to record a third-place finish.

But with just two appearances this season due to being fifth-choice, it appears his days are numbered on Merseyside.

Divock Origi

Another former hero, Origi was the reason Liverpool won their sixth Champions League title in 2019.

Scoring two against Barcelona in their famous semi-final triumph, the Belgian scored the winner against Tottenham in the final.

But more limited game time has seen him needing to move from Anfield.

Takumi Minamino

Minamino’s move came with a lot of excitement after he signed from Salzburg for just £7.5million in January 2020.

Limited game time and development has seen him make just 22 appearances for the club in the last two years – heralding eight goals in the process.

But the skill set of those around him could make him a prime target to raise funds – or leave on loan to reduce the immediate wage budget.

Yet with the inspired form of Ibrahima Konate, Joel Matip and the return of Van Dijk, Gomez could be sold in order to raise serious funds for a move in the ilk of Erling Haaland.

Thiago

The Spaniard has yet to threaten since his move from Bayern Munich a year ago.

He impressed in his first couple of games for the Reds but since has completely let his spell pass him by.

And with the midfielder not becoming any younger at the age of 30, he could be sold to bring in other replacements.
