Sir Alex Ferguson's transfer appeal to Man Utd board two years ago may be about to pay off


The Scotland international helped his side win promotion to the Premier League in 2019 and has gone on to make 125 appearances for Villa, racking up 16 goals and 21 assists.

McGinn has missed just one Premier League game this season and has started all three of his side’s matches since Steven Gerrard took over as boss last month.

The energetic midfielder has represented Scotland 42 times and helped his country secure a home World Cup 2022 qualifying play-off semi-final courtesy of a 2-0 victory over Denmark last month.

Former Villa scout Bobby Jenks is credited with pushing Villa chiefs to sign the player, even though he had been sacked by the west Midlands club by the time McGinn arrived.
