Sex Lives Of College Girls is renewed for a second season after a very successful debut… as creator Mindy Kaling says ‘yesssss!’


Fans of HBO Max’s The Sex Lives of College Girls can rejoice as the popular TV show has been renewed for a second season. 

The series – created by Mindy Kaling and Justin Noble – follows four college roommates as they arrive at New England’s prestigious Essex College. 

Kaling took to social media to celebrate as she added four celebration emojis and said, ‘Yesssss!’

The synopsis of the comedy describes the characters as ‘lovably chaotic suite mates on a mission to grow into their truest, freest selves.’

The show features Pauline Chalamet, Amrit Kaur, Reneé Rapp, and Alyah Chanelle Scott in the main roles.

The streaming service referred to the series as ‘the biggest Max Original comedy launch on the platform this year’.

HBO Max original content chief Sarah Aubrey released a statement saying, ‘Mindy Kaling and Justin Noble have created and written a show that is full of heart, female friendships and awkward naked parties.’

She continued, ‘We are delighted that this comic, honest portrayal of the college condition has resonated for everyone, whether they had sex in college or not. We can’t wait to see where these uniquely complex yet relatable characters will go next.’

In an October interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the show creator Kaling shared that she drew on some of her own college experiences while making the show.

‘All the fear about grades and not fitting in, that I pulled from my own experience. That’s the reason I wanted to do the show. It’s called The Sex Lives of College Girls, but we wanted to tell a story of four passionate, bright girls in college. The romantic stuff just felt like a good hook,’ she said.

The first season of the show is currently available on HBO Max, with the last two episodes set to air this Thursday, December 9.
