Kerr previously dated long-time girlfriend Nikki Stanton for almost eight years before quietly splitting early this year.

It’s understood Kerr told friends at the time that she and Stanton, who is also a high-profile American footballer in her own right, had ‘fallen out of love’.

Kerr scored twice as Chelsea defeated Arsenal 3-0 in the Women’s FA Cup final at Wembley to secure the domestic treble.

Her final goal, in which she chipped the ball over rival goalkeeper Manuela Zinsberger with pinpoint accuracy, was particularly impressive.

‘It wouldn’t go in (in the first half) but we knew it was coming,’ Kerr said.

‘We knew if we keep pushing at some point they would go in and they did.’

True to form, Kerr celebrated with the bottle of champagne awarded to her as player of the match afterwards, declaring: ‘This will go down a treat – I can’t wait to party!’
