Speaking on his podcast Mancs on the Mic with his brothers Scott and Adam, Ryan, 36, spoke candidly about “losing the bug” for acting. The former Corrie star previously admitted that travelling to Manchester to see his daughter with ex-girlfriend Tina O’Brien is putting strain on his relationship with fiancée Lucy Mecklenburgh, 29, who he shares 11-month-old son Roman with.
Speaking to his brothers, the actor opened up about his acting struggles: “It’s so hard for me.
“I started off acting, I started off in that game and I really lost the bug for it.”
Ryan went on to put his loss of passion for the dramatic arts down to being rejected too many times.
He continued: “I feel the reason for losing the bug is rejection and going to auditions and not getting them.”

“If I did, it was at the end but I was so established there that people saw me as fixtures and fittings, so I never really got that sort of negative criticism.”
Ryan continued: “It happens in all aspects but I just found it really really hard to deal with at first.”
Despite announcing his retirement from acting, the star said he wouldn’t rule out returning to his career in the future.
He said: “I always think, ‘Oh, it’ll [the desire to act] come back at some point,’ and maybe it will and it’s still something that I have in my locker if I want to explore it again.
“Right now I’m really happy with the direction I’m going.”
Just days ago, the former Corrie star revealed that he is “finding any excuse to have a drink” during the third coronavirus lockdown.
He said: “I’m literally just finding any excuse to have a drink.”
He explained: “It’s just a constant battle man, and I hate it, I hate myself for it.”
