Ryan Reynolds and Will Ferrell pulled a switcheroo on Wednesday on unsuspecting late-night talk show hosts Jimmy Kimmel and Jimmy Fallon.

Kimmel, 53, was expecting Ryan, 45, as a guest on his ABC show Jimmy Kimmel Live and was surprised when Will, 54, instead showed up in pajamas and sandals.

Meanwhile, Fallon, 47, introduced Will as his first guest and was shocked when Ryan appeared from backstage.

Ryan ignored Fallon as he emerged and instead played with the audience as The Roots performed a cowbell-heavy rendition of The Reaper.

Fallon looked dumbfounded as Ryan took a seat.

‘So weird,’ Ryan said. ‘I just put the kids to bed. I was walking the dog around the block. Will called, said he was running a little late, asked me if I’d jump in for him and I said, ”Anything for you, Will. I’m in”.’

‘How late is Will running?,’ Fallon asked.

Ryan looked at his watch as he replied, ‘He’s gonna be here in about half past never. Will’s not coming. Will’s not coming at all.’

The Deadpool star joked that he was ‘disgusted’ with the ‘plastic, playboy Hollywood prima donnas’ who think they can skip talk show appearances.

‘Who blows this off?,’ Ryan asked.

Walking dog: 'So weird,' Ryan said. 'I just put the kids to bed. I was walking the dog around the block. Will called, said he was running a little late, asked me if I'd jump in for him and I said, ''Anything for you, Will. I'm in'''

Fallon then switched gears and asked Ryan about his wife Blake Lively, 34, and their children.

‘You know. They’re all good. Blake’s, no personal questions by the way, but Blake is great. The sex is totally normal,’ Ryan said.

‘Wait, I wasn’t going to ask that,’ Fallon interjected.

‘Hey, hey, hey, pump the sex brakes, Jimmy. I asked that no personal questions and you’re going right in on it alright. Barbara Walters, easy, easy does it,’ Ryan joked.

Ryan declined to talk with Fallon about his new movie as he promised to deliver for Will.

He discussed their new musical film Spirited, which is a modern retelling of the 1843 Charles Dickens novella A Christmas Carol.

Filming wrapped in October on Spirited followed by Ryan announcing that he was taking a sabbatical from acting.

Ryan then plugged Will’s upcoming Apple TV+ series The Shrink Next Door that also stars Paul Rudd, 52, and Kathryn Hahn, 48.

Fallon then showed Paul on the cover of People as the newest Sexiest Man Alive.

‘I’m happy for Paul. He’s possibly the nicest human being in all of show business. And he’s aging backwards because of his contract with Satan or he only drinks breast milk from a blue whale,’ Ryan joked.

Ryan also hilariously tried to describe The Shrink Next Door and said it was a sort of Ant-Man kind of series.

‘Yeah, Ryan couldn’t make it. Yeah. I got a text from him, said he was running late, which usually means he’s not gonna show up,’ Will said.

‘So Ryan’s not coming?,’ Kimmel asked.

‘No, he’s not, just asked if I’d fill in,’ said Will, who noted he lived nearby close to the Magic Castle in Hollywood so it wasn’t a problem for him.

‘I think it’s gonna be good. We hope,’ Will said.

Will fielded questions as Ryan and revealed that ‘his wife’ Blake is a ‘great cook’ who makes oatmeal and ‘killer nachos’.
