Ricky Gervais heads out for a casual stroll with a friend… after saying he hopes to live long enough to see ‘woke’ generation cancelled

He recently said that he hopes he lives long enough to see the ‘woke’ generation get cancelled by the next one.

And on Thursday, Ricky Gervais, 60, cut a casual figure as he stepped out for a low-key stroll with a pal in Hampstead, North London.

The comedian wrapped up warm for the November chill as he donned a cosy grey fleece for his outing.

Ricky stepped out in slate coloured jacket with a black T-shirt and baggy dark blue denim jeans as he met up with a friend.

He wore a practical pair of black trainers and shielded his eyes from the winter sun with a classic pair of onyx Ray Ban wayfarers.

His pal wrapped up in a blue puffer jacket as the pair could be seen carrying some boxes down the road.

The actor’s low-key outing comes as he said that he wants to live long enough to see the young people of today called out by the next generation.

Ricky is a vocal critic of cancel culture and is unimpressed by ‘snowflakes’ or ‘woke’ people who are easily offended, and see older people as having outdated views.

He told neuroscientist Sam Harris on the Absolutely Mental podcast: ‘I wanna live long enough to see the younger generation not be woke enough for the next generation.

‘It’s going to happen. Don’t they realise that, it’s like, they’re next. That’s what’s funny.

‘We kicked out the old guard. We did it. There’s only so woke and liberal you can get and then you start going the other way. But it’s inevitable.’

Sam went on to say progressiveness is not necessarily generational and people will always criticise each other’s opinions.

Ricky has previously slammed cancel culture, even saying he thinks he will be cancelled due to his comedy in the future.

He previously said on an episode of the SmartLess podcast: ‘You don’t know what the world’s going to be like in 10 years time.

‘You can get cancelled for things you said 10 years ago because you don’t know what it’s going to be like in 10 years time.’
