Reese Witherspoon 'loves being mistaken' for her 22-year-old daughter Ava Phillippe

Oscar winner Reese Witherspoon ‘loves being mistaken’ for her 22-year-old daughter Ava Elizabeth Phillippe.

‘It makes me feel so young. I’m so proud of her. She really rolls with it. I’m sure it’s not easy looking exactly like your mother,’ the New Orleans-born 45-year-old said in the December/January issue of InStyle, which hits newsstands November 19.

‘We talk to Zoë Kravitz a lot. Because she and her mother [Lisa Bonet] look exactly alike, so whenever Ava is frustrated, I go, “Call Zoë, text Zoë, she knows what to talk about.” I mean, that’s another mother-daughter combo that’s like identical twins,’ she added.

Reese (born Laura Jeanne) said ‘down-to-earth’ Ava is ‘studying and learning and trying to find herself’ and ‘do great things in the world,’ but she did not go into specifics.

Witherspoon said the hardest part of parenting was ‘this little piece of doubt that you’re messing up all the time. I work really hard to get rid of it, but it’s always there.’

‘My first, most important priority is my kids. If I told you how much space in my brain they take up every day — do you even think they know? I don’t even think they know,’ The Morning Show producer-star gushed.

‘I’m 45. I know who I want to spend time with and who I don’t. And that is one of the great things about getting older — it just clears out so much space. I want to be with my mom, my kids, and the people who fill my tank. And everybody else, I wish them well.’

Reese added: 'We talk to Zoë Kravitz a lot. Because she and her mother [Lisa Bonet] look exactly alike, so whenever Ava is frustrated, I go, "Call Zoë, text Zoë, she knows what to talk about." I mean, that's another mother-daughter combo that's like identical twins'

Reese mothered Ava and her 18-year-old son Deacon Reese during her seven-year marriage to Cruel Intentions leading man Ryan Phillippe, which ended in 2007.

Witherspoon is also mother to nine-year-old son Tennessee James from her decade-long marriage to ex-Quibi head of content acquisitions and talent, Jim Toth.

For the InStyle spread, shot by Emma Summerton, the Draper James founder donned designer clothing like Dolce & Gabbana hand picked by stylist Julia von Boehm.

Reese cried when Hello Sunshine – the media company she co-founded with Seth Rodsky in 2016 – sold to a Blackstone backed media company for an eye-popping $900M in August.

‘I cried. I cried, and I thought about my grandma, and I cried more. I thought about all of the women who haven’t gotten these opportunities, and I just feel really lucky that I’m standing in a path that other women created for me,’ said Witherspoon, who remains an equity holder.

‘Next year, we have the Where the Crawdads Sing movie coming out; we have the Daisy Jones & the Six TV show. We have another show called From Scratch on Netflix with Zoe Saldana. It’s going to be a big year for Hello Sunshine. Which makes me so happy!’

The Stanford University drop-out executive produced and reprised her role as UBA co-anchor Bradley Jackson in the 10-episode second season of The Morning Show, which currently airs Fridays on Apple TV+.

‘It was great to play this character who was so excited to be invited to the party,’ Reese said of Bradley.

‘Then by season two she’s entitled, she’s a brat, she’s advocating for herself but maybe not in the most professional manner. It was fun to play somebody so different from myself. I’m a team player, but that is not Bradley.’
