The Isn’t It Romantic actress was granted permission by the New South Wales Government to skip mandatory 72-hour quarantine.

Unlike the vast majority of international travellers, Rebel was able to visit a public park at 5pm on Monday – just hours after touching down in Sydney at 8.30am.

Rebel’s manager told Daily Mail Australia on Wednesday: ‘Rebel received government permission from NSW Minister for Health and Medical Research Brad Hazzard.’

The manager was unable to provide the reason for why Rebel was granted the exemption, but did confirm the star ‘has been doing multiple PCR [nose and throat swab] tests’ since her arrival in Sydney.

Rebel’s younger sibling Annachi helped her with numerous bags as they departed the airport.

Under state public health requirements, fully-vaccinated travellers arriving from overseas must isolate at their home or accommodation for 72 hours after arriving in NSW.

Self-isolation means the person cannot go to public places, including shops, restaurants and parks.

The 72-hour quarantine rule was implemented in response to the emergence of the Omicron COVID-19 variant.
