Newcastle's Eddie Howe deal on verge of breakdown as negotiations hit major roadblock

Newcastle United’s pursuit of Eddie Howe is at risk of a late collapse despite reaching a verbal agreement to bring the former Bournemouth boss to St James’ Park, according to reports. Howe was widely expected to be confirmed as the new Magpies boss over the coming days on a two-and-a-half-year deal to replace Steve Bruce, who was given his marching orders last month.

Newcastle reportedly struck an agreement with Howe earlier this week to see him take charge on Tyneside, but it seems as though the deal could soon fall through to leave the club’s new owners back at square one.

The 43-year-old was eager to bring a few members of his old backroom team from his Bournemouth days with him to Newcastle, including the likes of Jason Tindall, Stephen Purches and Simon Weatherstone.

However, the Magpies have failed to agree a deal with Howe’s former colleagues after 24 hours of negotiations, according to the Mirror.
