Mikel Arteta shows he's learned from Eddie Nketiah mistakes in Arsenal transfer call

Nketiah has, in the past, been given ample opportunities to nail down a more prominent role under Arteta after a failed stint on loan at Leeds was cut short.

But after failing to grasp those opportunities, Nketiah has decided that his long-term future lies away from north London, citing a lack of action as the driving force behind his aspirations for a transfer. His refusal to sign a new deal means the club are likely to lose the academy graduate for nothing next summer.

Although Balogun is unlikely to angle for a move away given where he’s at in his development, Arsenal could run the risk of history repeating itself if they don’t provide a clear pathway for Balogun.

A loan move for the youngster in January is probably the smart option for Arsenal and Arteta; who has shown that he’s already learned his lessons from Nketiah’s situation with his handling of Balogun.

The club have already convinced Balogun to pen a new long-term deal with the club back in April, with the striker now committed to the club until the summer of 2025.
