Campbell reflected on how the pandemic greatly affected the industry and says it’s a relief that there’s a resurgence of live entertainment coming.

‘By that time in February we will be living through a great summer, we’ve come through the Covid times, come through the pandemic and can celebrate the good times with live music coming back again,’ he said.

The Today Extra co-host explained that he was luckier than most during the lockdowns as he was still able to work in his breakfast TV job, while others in the music industry struggled.

Campbell said while music fans are thrilled by performers like Tina Arena and his father Jimmy Barnes returning to the stage, it’s the people that ‘build the stages’ that the industry doesn’t ‘want to lose’.

He explained that it’s those kind of workers ‘coming back out’ to work on the stage that he’s most excited to see.
