Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, Lil Nas X has outdone his internet trolls once again.
The rapper released a two-minute teaser Monday to promote his upcoming single “Industry Baby” where he pokes fun at his Satan Shoes controversy earlier this year.
In the video, Lil Nas X wears multiple disguises to play the judge, defendant, prosecutor and a juror as the “Old Town Road” rapper goes on trial, a reference to the real legal battle he faced with Nike.
To follow his “Montero” single, the rapper, whose real name is Montero Lamar Hill, collaborated with Brooklyn-based fashion company MSCHF to create a custom Nike Satan shoe. The shoe sparked social media furor for its satanic references. Nike then sued MSCHF for trademark infringement and the sale of the shoes came to a halt. The lawsuit came to a settlement in April after an agreement was made for MSCHF to buy back any Satan Shoes at their original retail price of $1,018 in order to remove the product from circulation.

Shoe recall:Lil Nas X’s Satan Shoes voluntarily recalled as part of Nike lawsuit settlemen
In the prelude video to Lil Nas’x new release, the case isn’t one against Nike trademark infringement.
“This is about much more than shoes. Mr. Nas X, are you gay?” the self-portrayed prosecutor asks.
“What does this have to do with the shoes?” Lil Nas X responds.
The prosecutor then rephrases the question: “Do your momma know your gay?”
The courtroom presses the 22-year-old rapper to answer and the rapper finally says “yes.” The judge sentences Lil Nas X to five years in “Montero State Prison.”
After releasing the video, the rapper posted photos of a mug shot as well as a inmate ID to further promote the new song on social media.
