Jurgen Klopp could rue Liverpool transfer decision as he faces team selection issue

A front three of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Origi and Minamino look more suitable to lead the line for a team hunting down a top-half challenge than winning a title.

Klopp could both regret not bringing in another forward to cope with his January absences in the summer, but also for not rotating his squad enough.

Firmino sustained his injury after coming on as a half-time substitute against Atletico but, truth be told, it was an unnecessary change given the La Liga outfit were down to ten men at the time.

Klopp may not have been able to rest his stars due to his lack of depth, which is understandable, but then he should have pushed to bolster his ranks over the summer rather than being content with just signing Ibrahima Konate.

Harvey Elliott is on the road to recovery after a serious injury sustained against Leeds, but it remains to be seen how long it takes to get him back to match fitness.
