Jodie Comer, 27, quickly became a firm fan favourite in her role as psychopathic hitman Villanelle in Killing Eve, which she was nominated for as Best Actress in a Drama TV Series at this year’s Golden Globes. But the blonde bombshell was missing from the ceremony and viewers were confused as to why.
She was up against Olivia Colman, Emma Corrin, Sarah Poulson and Laura Linney but when it came to announce the winner of her category, only a headshot of the 27-year-old star appeared in place of a live link.
Emma took home the award for portraying a young Princess Diana in the fourth series of Netflix’s The Crown, and while her competitors cheered and applauded her success, some viewers began to make jokes as to why Jodie “didn’t crack a smile” or clap for the winner.
Taking to Twitter, fans expressed their intrigue as to where she could be.
“Miss Jodie Comer we were taking attendance and you were nowhere to be found,” one joked.

A second wrote: “I’m so happy that everyone also seems happy for Emma Corrin. (I’m assuming Jodie Comer is happy for her. Just sleeping.)”
Another said: “Jodie Comer not showing up to a virtual event is a hell of a thing haha.”
A fourth laughed: “Omg, my wife just said ‘Jodie Comer does not look happy about losing.’ I was like, ‘That’s a photo of her. She’s not there’ #GoldenGlobes.”(sic)
Someone else added: “Jodie Comer not showing up to the golden globes is the equivalent of me sleeping through chem class with my camera off.”
“Jodie Comer is not on Zoom because the internet went down at the house,” it was announced on social media.
“We’ve called the cable company multiple times but there’s not much they can do,” they added, but it hasn’t been confirmed this was indeed the case.
Despite being unable to join in the celebrations, fans were ever the moon for Emma who was left in tears at the shock of winning her first Golden Globe.
